We're looking for a few good abolitionists...
AASG offers full and part-time internships to individuals interested in advancing the anti-slavery movement or simply getting an insider’s look at the non-profit world. This is no envelope-stuffing internship; if you have the drive and the skills, you can play a major role in our work. Our interns range from high school students to retired teachers and dedicate at least 10 hours a week in our office.

Internship Description
Learn how a nonprofit works from the inside while fighting for the civil rights of millions around the world! AASG interns will work closely with the Programming Director and Communications Coordinator to manage the day-to-day procedures of this dynamic human rights group while gaining invaluable experience in operations and communications. In the process, interns will learn how to use new systems and cultivate communication and organizational skills—both essential to any career. Interns will:
- Help coordinate speaking engagements for survivors of slavery and AASG staff members
- Develop and create marketing materials
- Help promote “Bearing Witness” Speakers Bureau
- Help train survivors of slavery in speech delivery
- Help produce annual reports and semiannual newsletter
- Update and create website content
- Provide logistical support, including: bookkeeping, donation processing, maintaining member databases, managing online store, updating press archive
- Perform ad hoc duties assigned by Program Director and Communications Coordinator
We seek highly motivated self-starters who are committed to human rights issues. The qualified applicant is able to work independently and has basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word. Excellent written and oral communication skills are a must.
Note! We have filled all available Fall 2006 positions. We will start accepting applications for Winter and Spring internships in November. (Please note that all internships are unpaid; housing cannot be provided by AASG.)
